The medieval village
Entering the village through the inner arch, where the coat of arms of the Caetani and Atti families are still visible today, you will find St. Andrea's church, built in 1635 by the Corsini family and dedicated to their saint, Andrea Corsini (1301-1374), bishop of Fiesole and ancestor of the current owner of the Castle of Sismano. Just a few steps from the church, two buildings were recovered and restored: a late medieval building called Medievale, and a building called Canonica, dating back to the first half of the XVIII century. In these two buildings you will find eleven suites equipped with every comfort and furnished with taste: we have five suites in the Medievale building and six in the Canonica one, next to St. Andrea's church. Every suite has a given name and unique features, all illustrated to make you choose the suite that will fit your needs best. Every suite has air-conditioning, free internet access, and cable TV.
A medieval dive
The Castle of Sismano gives you the chance to swim in a pool nestled in a medieval village, an exclusive location with a stunning view of the hills. Our agritourism "The castle of Sismano" is located in a medieval village at the foot of the ancient castle. The owner of the Sismano estate runs the agritourism herself, with the help of trusted fellow workers. The village, with its small road skirting the Castle walls, it's a magic, timeless place, where you can relax far away from the hectic and noisy city you live in.
Sismano or Sosmano was described, in the 1322 historic archive of Todi, as a castle of "twenty one fires" and was considered one of the many fortresses that guarded the city of Todi. In 1254 Sismano endured large damage due to the harsh battles between Guelfi and Ghibellini, and the feuds between Todi, Florence, Narni and Spoleto. Between 1281 and 1294, the Cardinal Benedetto Caetani spent long periods of time in Todi trying to pacify the disputes between the party of the guelfe cities of Todi, Perugia and Spello and that of the ghibellina city of Foligno.
